Four types of NUS modules I dislike

"Certification" modules: Those who were already good continue to be good and are certified as such. Those who were lousy continue to be lousy and are too certified as such. The course essentially does nothing else.

"DIY" modules: We expect students to learn everything themselves because we want them to be self-learners, so much so that we won't even give directions and guidance.

"Breadth" modules: This is an introductory module, so we cover the basics of everything. But, when we test, we test the depths of everything because we need to distinguish the distinguished.

"Structured" modules: University students are responsible adults and are therefore expected to meet hard deadlines with harsh penalties for split second lateness. But, since these adults are incapable of their own learning, we introduce a well-structured deadline-based study schedule for them.
